Founded in 1992, the mission of the gallery Martine Gossieaux has always been to showcase those graphic artists who with elegance, humor, sympathy and irony, depict the lighter side of human nature.
A former artistic director in the advertising industry, Madame Gossieaux worked with JJ Sempé for a number of years before opening her gallery on the Rue de l’Université in Paris. She continues to represent Sempé and to organize his exhibits in Europe and throughout the world.

In addition to its exhibitions, the gallery publishes books in limited editions as well as engravings and etchings. The books, printed on Rivoli paper, include collections of unpublished drawings by JJ Sempe (in editions ranging from 500 to 900 numbered copies), as well as drawings by William Steig, Ronald Searle and Tetsu.  Madame Gossieaux has also edited a text entitled Portraits de mes amis by Philippe Caubet  with original drawings by Sempé for Diogenes.  Her book, La passion du dessin d'humour, was  edited by Buchet-Chastel, as part of its collection « les Cahiers dessinés » in 2008.  It showcases  artists she admires -- Birnbaum, Chas Addams, Peter Arno, and Savignac, among others,-- and is accompaned by vivid accounts of how she came to know them.
Martine Gossieaux’ most récent publication,  Sempé à New York  features the one hundred and one covers of the New Yorker magazine that established Sempé as a literary figure in the Anglo Saxon world as well as in Europe.  The book also contains a pertinent sélection of unpublished drawings by Sempé as well as an interview of the artist with Marc Lecarpentier
